CPD Searching for CTA Blue Line Pickpockets

Chicago Police are trying to track down two suspected pickpockets. Police say the two men have targeted the State and Jackson stop, and the platform at State and Washington.

Police were able to get catch them on surveillance. These shots were taken on September 19 at 2:47 pm when the first robbery took place. The other happened on September 23 at 3:40 pm. In each incident, the two men surround the victim and remove wallets from backpacks.

Numbers show crime on the CTA has doubled since 2015, despite thousands of cameras being added to the system. Even worse, the Chicago Tribune reports the arrest rate for these crimes has dropped, meaning less chance of offenders being held accountable.

Police are asking riders to give them a call if they see anything suspicious, and to keep watch of your personal belongings. CPD recommends keeping your wallet close to you, or to consider stripping it down to something that can attach to the back of your phone.
