In the 2001 American romantic comedy The Wedding Planner, Mary Fiore is San Francisco’s most ambitious and successful wedding planner. Determined to become a partner at the wedding company she works for, Mary pursues and is hired by catering heiress, Fran Donolly, to plan her lavish wedding to long-term boyfriend Eddie. While on the phone, Mary is almost crushed by an oncoming dumpster but is saved by a local pediatrician, Steve Edison. In the hospital, Mary is visited by a friend who convinces Steve to attend an outdoor movie screening with them at the park. Steve and Mary wind up alone at the movie and almost end the evening with a kiss before a heavy downpour forces them to run for cover. A few days later, Mary’s client Fran introduces her to her dreamy fiancé who is none other than Steve.
