Mayor Wants Legalized Marijuana Sales to go Toward Pensions

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s time in office is coming to an end. But before he leaves, he wants to lay in place a plan to build up pension funds through some controversial fixes.

The city has seen decades of underfunding of retirement benefits for city workers. The four pension systems are in the negative by $28 billion dollars combined. Now the mayor has laid out a vision for legalized marijuana revenue to foot the bill.
