Halloween Shooting in Little Village

A 15-year-old is being blamed for the Halloween shooting that left two injured including a little girl. The teen’s court hearing is Monday morning. He is being charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 7-year-old girl who was out trick-or-treating in Little Village.

The shooting happened on Halloween around 5:30 p.m. while the little girl was near 26th and Lawndale with her family.

He opened fire striking the little girl in the chest.

She is currently at Stroger Hospital recovering from surgery.

Police say the teen also shot a 31-year-old man in the hand and right now they think the shooting was gang-related and the target was that man.

The boy, whose name isn’t released because he’s a juvenile, was arrested the day after the shooting. Police say this is his first arrest.

He's facing two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder and two felony counts of aggravated battery through the discharge of a firearm.

The little girl's family has thanked their community for the outpouring of support.

They have passed their $5,000 goal, but donations are still coming in on GoFundMe.
