FAQ About Early Voting In Illinois and Indiana
Election day is quickly approaching and it's time to let your voice be heard and vote!
Get the information you need to get out and vote with some frequently asked questions and answers about early voting in Illinois and Indiana.
Who can vote early?
In Illinois - All registered voters are eligible for early voting in Illinois. If you are not registered yet you can still register online here through October 18th. Not sure if you are registered or not? You can check your registration status online here.
In Indiana - All registered Indiana voters are eligible to vote early in-person. Not sure if you're registered to vote? You can check your registration status online here.
Can I vote early by mail?
In Illinois - Any voter may vote by mail by applying online or by applying with the mail-in/fax/email form found here.
In Indiana - If you meet the absentee-by-mail requirements you may be eligible to vote early by mail. In order to vote by mail, you must complete and submit a one-page application before or on Thursday, October 22, 2020. See the application and learn more about absentee voting online here.
Where can I vote early?
In Illinois - Early voting is already underway at locations across all 50 Chicago wards and beyond. See locations and hours for early voting locations online here. You can also see all early voting locations statewide online here.
In Indiana - Contact your County Clerk’s office to find locations and hours for early voting.
Do I need an ID to vote early?
In Illinois - You do not need ID if you are already registered to vote AND your signature matches the one on file AND there are no questions about your registration. However, there are times when you do need identification, such as registering to vote or updating the name or address on your registration in person when you go to vote.
In Indiana - A valid photo ID is required to vote early in-person. You can find examples of acceptable photo IDs online here.
