This weekend 63 people shot and ten deaths in Chicago


It was a violent weekend in Chicago with 63 people were shot. Ten of those incidents were fatal. CPD says they know some of those shootings were gang related.

According to CPD, these shooting occurred in the 6th, 10th, and 11th districts. 

One of the shootings happened during a block party on the 1600 block of South Avers Avenue around midnight. According to police, two gunmen got out of a white Impala and shot four people.

Later that Sunday morning, 17-year-old Jahnae Patterson was killed; five others were injured including an 11-year-old boy on the 1300 block of South Millard Avenue.

In a separate shooting, on the 1300 block of West 76th Street, three teen and five adults had multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital, all expected to survive.

Since Stroger Hospital was where most victims were taken, the hospital was on trauma lockdown only allowing family members of the victims into the ER.
