Some children separated from their families at the border are housed in Chicago

There have been reports that some of the children who were taken from their parents are being cared for here in the Chicago.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Heartland Alliance confirmed in a statement that they have recently provided shelter and care for children who were separated from their families at the border. Thus far, the federal government has not put resources or policies in place to help families reconnect.

As for Heartland Alliance, we now know migrant children that have been separated from their families are being housed in facilities operated by this organization, which are located in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. Their parents are being held in detention centers or jails in various cities all over the country.

We don’t know the exact number of children who have been resettled in Chicago, but Chicago is one of the dozens of cities with facilities to house migrant children.
