CPD looking for suspect vehicles in fatal hit-and-run

Chicago police are searching for two vehicles involved in a fatal hit and run on the city's South Side. The man was pronounced dead on the scene Tuesday morning.

Police have not released his identity, but they have released crucial details in the investigation. The search is on for two vehicles they believe were involved.

The first vehicle is reported to be a gray Ford Focus. The second vehicle is said to be a Nissan Altima with front-end damaged and a fractured windshield; both are four-door cars.

According to police, around 3:05 a.m. Tuesday morning one of the vehicles was traveling northbound on Cottage Grove before striking the victim around 79th Street.

The body was trapped underneath the car until the driver reached 79th and Dobson Avenue, which is about seven blocks away from the moment of impact.

Police say both cars drove off traveling east on 79th Street right after the crash.
