Investigators Hope Black Boxes In Deadly Plane Crash Give Details On Cause

35 countries including the U.S. are grieving after 157 passengers and crew aboard an Ethiopian flight were killed. One of those victims was from the Chicagoland area.

Antonie Lewis was a native of south suburban Matteson. His family confirmed the 39-year-old was in the East African nation doing Christian missionary work.

Lewis was a decorated military captain; he enlisted in the army after high school and was stationed in Canada, He leaves behind a wife and a 15-year-old son.

His family says they take comfort knowing he died doing what he loved.

Of the eight Americans killed, three others have been identified. Brother Mel and Bennett Riffel of Redding, California were on an adventure as Mel prepared to welcome his first daughter.

Doctor Manisha Nukavarapu was a second year resident. She was on her way to Kenya to visit her sister who had just given birth to triplets.

Flags are at half-mast at the U.N. building in New York. They were hit hard loosing 22 staff members.

Most of them were on their way to a United Nations Environmental Summit in Kenya.

International investigators are hoping two black boxes recovered yesterday will provide answers.
