Chicagoans Start Feeling Affect of the 19th Day of Partial Government Shutdown

As we enter day 19th, Chicagoans are starting to feel the effects of the partial government shutdown.

President Barack Obama declared Pullman a National Park back in 2015. It’s neighborhoods and areas like this one that are affected by this shutdown.

Right now, federal workers are shying away from interviews to not jeopardize their jobs even more. Many have denied The Jam’s request for comment, but the daughter of an O’Hare Airport TSA worker says many TSA workers are calling off because they can’t afford the drive there or afford childcare.

She says many of these workers live paycheck to paycheck. TSA supervisors say they’re going to have to start closing down lanes at O’Hare because they simply don’t have the resources to keep up.

According to the Chicago Federal Executive Board more than 40 agencies employ about 40,000 federal employees in the Chicagoland area.

Those agencies include the FBI Chicago Field Office and the Office of Environmental Protection Agency.

President Donald Trump is set to visit the U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday.

He says he’s prepared to keep the government shut down until he gets funding for the border wall.
