Chicago Braces for Cold, CPS Cancels Classes

As we brace for the worst of the cold weather, the city is shifting its focus to keeping Chicagoans safe. With temperatures this low, frostbite can hit in minutes, it’s important you cover any exposed skin. If you start feeling exhausted that could be a sign of hypothermia setting in.

Several area schools have cancelled classes for Wednesday, including Chicago Public Schools. CPS CEO Janice Jackson says the students' safety is the district's highest priority.

CPS has also cancelled all after school activities, district officials have yet say if students will head back to class on Thursday. Wednesday’s snow day means students will get an extra day tacked on to the school year.
