I am a 16 year old African American , I'm a junior in Carver Military Academy and Wednesday January 16th I was promoted to second lieutenant and today when I got home from school I received a letter from William A. Neal saying that I have just been nominated to go to Washington DC to study Law and Criminal justice but there is a problem. The trip costs approximately $1,700 dollars and my family isn't that wealthy we live in Altgeld Gardens and we don't have that type of money but I don't want to be stuck in the projects all my life I want to explore and make something out of my future.
