June 8- Meet Sven- (and His Desk?!)
For those of you who like to check in here to find out where you can meet me- you’ll have two big opportunities coming up
This month. The next one up- Cicero (yes, right next door to Berwyn)-where I’ll be appearing at the opening of the fest celebrating their 150-year anniversary! That will be Friday night, June 20- from 6 to 8 pm. Then, a little earlier this year than the usual, it’s the ever-popular Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention, at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont! I’ll be there Saturday afternoon, June 28- starting at 2 pm, I’ll do the usual autograph signing, posing for pictures, etc.- then, around 4 pm, I’ll hit the stage for some questions and answers, followed by my traditional hosting of the annual costume contest- always a favorite with the Flashback crowd! Please remember that Flashback does have an admission fee- but you get a lot of fun for your money! I’ll have more specific information about both these events as they get closer- so, if you’re planning to come visit with me,

As I’m writing this, I happened to look at all the stuff that’s on my desk-and thought it might be fun to give you a verbal peek at what sits upon the workspace of your favorite goolie. Of course, there are several small rubber chickens that people have given me- small key chain size, squeezy stress-ball like ones, and those disgusting ones that you squeeze, and a clear, yoke-filled “egg” pops out of its nether region. There’s even a plastic one on the end of a pen that plays cymbals, like those wind-up monkeys.
There’s an empty bottle of “VampFire” hot sauce, with a drawing of a Christopher Lee- like vampire, and the legend- “Made up the road from Transylvania L.A.”-I also have an empty jar from “Hell in a Bottle “ hot sauce, which now holds a variety of pens, markers, and a Three Stooges golf cleat cleaner (yes, people send me a LOT of Stooges stuff!)
Also on the desk is a lovely clock and pen set, along with a silver plaque commemorating my 2004 TV Academy “Silver Circle” award-sent to me by my sister. There are also a few photos- one from our “Prom Night” promotion, with me and my “date” –our production assistant Tamara- posed like prom dates from hell (no relation to the hot sauce mentioned above)-
one from a New Year’s Eve broadcast on WGN Radio, taken in the “showcase studio” facing Michigan Avenue, when I was one of the guests of my friends Steve and Johnnie – and one from my visit to the Columbia College radio station food drive from around last Christmas.
