Can you believe that we’re already half-way to Halloween?!
Have you got a costume ready yet? I can’t wait to see what costumes are popular with the ladies this year- last time, there were multiple Batgirls and Supergirls- plenty of nurses (which makes me wonder why health care is so expensive)- and lots of pirate lasses, all shivering their timbers ( next time, wear a sweater!) And, yes, there seems to be a trend for people to show up at Halloween events that I’m attending- dressed as me!
Sometimes I’m impressed by the detail put into the costumes- one of my favorites, from the Flashback Weekend convention this year, was a father and son team (you may have seen them on a webisode or on the show) who each had their own chicken shield! And- believe it or not- there are more and more women dressing up as a female Sven! One fan, who’s dressed as “Svengirlie” many times, is always a pleasure to meet- this year at Flashback, she gave me HER autograph!
There was another lady whose name was Julie, so she named herself- “SvenJulie!” One that worried me was a young lady who showed up at an event in the Sven costume- but said that it was because her boyfriend asked her to dress that way! Hmmm…I don’t think I’ll investigate that any further…
Anyway, let me know what you’re going to be- and, of course, you can send me a picture of you in your costume- it just might end up on the air!
Today’s pick as far as monstrous movies go –how about one where the scary killer wears a costume and mask? “Scream” is a big favorite with modern horror fans- as it plays off the old conventions of “endangered teen” horror flicks-plus, you have to love that mask! Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox help make this fun and frightful Wes Craven flick a perfect pre-Halloween treat-and watch for the school janitor Fred- who’s wearing the outfit of another “Nightmarish” Freddie from another flick!
