Get set, kiddies- today’s feature is “the Blog That Lasted for TWO Days!” With the holiday tomorrow, I figured I’d have more time to watch parades, football, and my waistline if I did one blog for both Wednesday and Thursday. The parades are always on Thanksgiving morning- now there’s even one in Chicago. The Chicago parade used to have lame balloons- while New York had Spider Man and Kermit, our town had “Mr. Zip” the Zip Code mascot and Generic Teddy Bear. Seems like they’ve improved on that the last few years. I have been in the parades, when they were previously the Christmas parade, and –first of all- being in these parades in cold weather is no picnic. Secondly, you never know if you’ll end up on camera, because some competing stations will purposely NOT show anyone from another station if they can avoid it.(God forbid you upstage their consumer reporter…) The parade vehicles are often unusual- I once rode in a two-wheeled car that was really cool…been on fire trucks- and once, was sitting on a car that was entirely coated with hard candies! Nobody seemed to know that, sitting on some of the candy where they had me situated, it’d MELT- leaving me with a trip to the cleaners, trying to explain why my tuxedo had a delicious candy coating on certain areas… Lots of killer food on Thanksgiving (no, not like “Killer Tomatoes” or “the Stuff”- a dessert topping-looking item that controlled and killed people!)-as much as I’m identified with rubber chickens, I prefer turkey! Pumpkin pie is also a big favorite- provided it’s not made out of that moldy Jack O’Lantern we had on the front porch about a month ago… and the controversy continues- REAL cranberries or the jelly-like version?! I don’t mind a little of both- although, if you leave the jelly version in the exact shape of the can without cutting it up, it’s a little unsettling… I hope you all settle for a nice meal with the people you care about. Yeah, it’s a cliché- but- think about what you really are thankful for- or what you SHOULD be thankful for…I’m thankful that enough of you care about what I do to keep me employed!!! And, that you’ve shown such great support to our shows, and our website features…so, I promise a new blog on Friday- if you’re not too busy shopping…hmmm..THERE’S a blog topic! Have a nice holiday and check in for my next rant… # # #
