WARNING: There IS a Chicago Sky game on before Svengoolie tonight- SO- if you’re setting a tape or TiVo- PLEASE add extra time! The last few times the games have run past nine o’clock, delaying the start of our Sven show- last time, almost by 25 minutes- so make sure you’ve set things up so you’ll record the entire show this time! (By the way- if the game DOES run over- two things: one, we WILL show the entire Sven show, not join it in progress, and –two, when the game ends, watch for a special segment we shot to air between the game and the actual start of the Sven show!)

This week’s Sven movie is- “the Mummy’s Tomb!”- the latest in the sequel parade that we are presenting this month- with more of the adventures of Kharis the living mummy. This is actually a sequel to the sequel we showed last week- picking up the story, several years later, with the characters from last week’s film sufficiently aged (through the wonders of make-up) -and a new high priest bringing Kharis to America to get his revenge on those nasty tomb-raiders! The new priest is the legendary Turhan Bey, who played any number of roles as a sinister or exotic foreigner- and Lon Chaney Jr. as the mummy. Rumor has it that big Lon hated the mummy make-up so much, and the tedious application, that he eventually convinced Universal make-up master Jack Pierce to devise a sort of face mask that was easier to put on and take off! There will be some fun Sven bits as well - including a duet by Tombstone and myself to a movie musical song that may just “Grease” your eardrums! So, make sure you don’t miss it!

Leave extra record time in case the Sky runs long- and/or catch the Me-TV replay at 1 am!

And, if you’re reading this early enough in the day- come out and meet me this afternoon at the Flashback Weekend horror convention- at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare on River Road in Rosemont. To re-cap my schedule- I’ll sign autographs from 2 to 4 pm- then, at 4:15, I’ll be on stage for the Svengoolie question and answer session- have those burning questions ready! We follow that up with the event I especially enjoy- I’ll be hosting the annual costume contest. Again, if you’ve got a really cool horror, comics, or movie--themed costume, come on out and try your luck- there will be prizes awarded! Some of the faves last year were the Zombie schoolgirls, “Little DEAD Riding Hood,” and the winner- the dead-on clone of Captain Jack Sparrow! I hope you come and say hello at flashback today- and , that you’ll tune in as the mummy madness continues on Sven tonight!
