CPS Student Receives More Than $1 Million in Scholarships

A Chicago Public School student goes above and beyond in hopes of completing her college dreams. Darlene Diaz, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School, received more than $1million in scholarships. Diaz applied to 19 colleges and was 10 of them.

In the fall, she will be attending Davidson College in North Carolina. Diaz thanks her support system, which includes family, friends and her school kept her motivated. 

Principal George Szkapiak and International Baccalaureate Coordinator Jim Clarke explain that programs like this help students who want to be successful.
