Cook County Hospital turns into hotels, offices and more

We have seen the vacant Cook County Hospital for many years and we always wondered what was going to take its place.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the vintage Cook County Hospital will be turned into two Hyatt Hotels, medical offices and retail space.

The Civic Health Development Group confirmed on Friday, the project is set to start on $135 million in financing.

The CEO of the company says construction is set to start by the second week of June. The Tribune says, renovations will create about 75 thousand square feet of medical offices and 24 thousand square feet of retail including a food hall and pharmacy.

This redevelopment is just phase one, which is set to be completed by summer of 2020.
