City Offering Vacant Lots for Just $1

The City of Chicago is continuing their popular program for people that want to own land in the city. A vacant lot can be yours for less than the price of a candy bar.

It is an effort that gets a lot of talks online around the country. People interested in owning land - maybe even starting a business, can get their start for just one dollar.

There are a few caveats. Buyers must already own property on the same block, be current on property taxes, and have no outstanding debt to the city. That means no late water bills or unpaid parking tickets. Since the program started five years ago, 1200 lots have been sold.

You can go to largelots.org to see what’s available and if you qualify. The deadline is July 2.
